Anthony Estwick and Greg Smith from Bidfood Marketing, together with Duncan South from Classic Meats and photographer Steve Ryan, embarked on a journey to the home of Emerald Valley beef.
The purpose of the trip was to obtain high-quality photos and video from some of the properties that are responsible for nurturing Emerald Valley’s premium pasture-fed beef.
When you’re talking meat, providence is high on the agenda. Emerald Valley beef is grown in the Northern Rivers and New England regions of New South Wales. The area is renowned for its rolling green hills, lush pastures, flowing streams and clean air, and the boys were not disappointed. With steady rain falling for two weeks prior to the trip, the properties were in top condition as glistening sunshine greeted them.
The Emerald Valley supply chain is backed by 120+ farmers who operate small and large facilities throughout the region. Emerald Valley beef is free range cattle consisting predominantly of British-bred Herefords and their crosses.
The properties attended were located in an area between Glen Innes and Armidale which is about a 5-hour drive south of Brisbane. Arriving around midday, the team took the opportunity to scope out the surrounds before being joined by Lennard Blok (Blok Agriculture) and Neil Rosten (Head Stockman) who guided the guys around the property. As cattle tend to be extremely inquisitive, it didn’t take long for the cameras to start clicking as the herd approached upon entering the first paddock.
Various locations were shot throughout the afternoon, before returning to the original paddock where the boys enjoyed a romantic sunset along with 400 steers. The team was at it again the following morning – rising at 3:50am in order to get to the farm in time for the sunrise shot. Once again, Mother Nature produced a glorious start to the day. Fog filled the valleys and the sun peeked over the range as the camera crew captured the stock hands completing their early morning mustering on quad bike and horseback.
After viewing the photos and our video, we are sure you will agree that the environment in which Emerald Valley cattle are free to roam, is some of the most picturesque countryside in Australia. It's also the reason why the beef is held in such high acclaim.
