Bidfood Australia plays an active role in minimising the impact of our carbon footprint and ensuring a responsible and ethical supply chain.
What we’re doing towards environmental sustainability.
Solar
For any new sites built since 2019, Bidfood has committed to installing solar panel systems, more efficient refrigeration and lighting. So far, we have saved over 900 tonnes of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere.
Fleet
Bidfood has ordered its first electric truck which is predicted to reduce 33.6 tonne of carbon emission annually. The rest of the Bidfood fleet is constantly monitored by GPS to educate drivers on speeding, heavy acceleration and idling time.
Waste
Waste produced by our distribution centres is mostly packaging waste and food waste. Since 2018, Bidfood has produced 3% less waste due to the encouragement of operations to reduce and reuse.

Sustainable seafood sourcing
Bidfood Australia is the first supplier to take a sustainability-based approach when procuring products. We work in partnership with Global Aquaculture Alliance, Marine Stewardship Council and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council, both locally and abroad. We've also been recipients of multiple MSC Sustainable Seafood Awards.

Responsible meat sourcing
We follow strict animal welfare guidelines when it comes to our range of meat. Emerald Valley beef and lamb is accredited by all major meat and livestock programs in Australia. Emerald Valley lamb livestock are also protected under the Livestock Welfare Certified System, ensuring best practice during transport and processing. Homestead Pork pigs are also ethically raised, treated and processed with care.

Zero-tolerance to modern slavery
Modern slavery encompasses the offences of slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking. It is an unquestionable and indefensible violation of an individual’s basic human rights. Bidfood Australia is committed to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery within our business and supply chains. Ensuring, as far as we are able, that our supply chains are free from slavery and human trafficking.

Health and food safety
Bidfood is committed to creating a culture where work health safety, environmental and food safety concerns are seen as an integral party of business operations. Management systems are implemented across all sites for Quality (QA), Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety (WHS) and Food Safety (FS) matching the standards ISO 9001, AS/NZS ISO 14001, AS/NZS ISO 45001 and ISO 22000 (HACCP/Risk Based Food Safety system) respectively.
