Bidfood, Australia’s leading foodservice distributor, has launched the second edition of their bi-annual guide to what’s hot in the culinary scene, The Trend List.
“It’s important for chefs and restaurant owners to be in the know when it comes to trends within the foodservice industry whether it is food, drink or technology,” says Bidfood General Manager of Procurement and Marketing, Grant Fairlie.
“We’re seeing cuisines such as Japanese and Italian making their way onto menus in a fresh new light,” says Grant.
“And with plant-based eating, or vegan, becoming increasingly mainstream, the market for faux-meat products will continue to grow. However, counteracting this trend is Australia’s appetite for high-end beef. It’s hungrier than ever, despite the rise in mock-meat products. We have observed that demand for cuts such as rib eye continues to be strong and is greater than previous years.”
The Winter 2019 edition of The Trend List focuses on key predictions for the final half of 2019 such as Japanese flavours, staff sustainability, mobile technology and more. Make sure you’re ahead of the game. The Trend List is available now on bidfood.com.au/the-trend-list or contact your local Bidfood branch for a copy.
