Missing out on lunch has a big impact on children, with hunger causing fatigue and poor concentration. Bidfood believes that all Australian children deserve the best start at life and that’s why we are proud to partner with Eat Up. Each week Eat Up make and deliver thousands of fresh sandwiches and donation snacks directly to schools for the 1 in 4 Aussie kids experiencing hunger.
Who are Eat Up?
In 2013 Eat Up Founder, Lyndon, was living in his hometown of Shepparton and read a story in the paper about how local kids were going to school without lunch. He quickly enlisted the help of his mum and a couple of mates and started making sandwiches to drop off at these schools. From grassroots beginnings, Eat Up now provide free lunches for students across NSW, NT, QLD, VIC and WA.
Eat Up and Bidfood: lots of cheese sandwiches!
By focusing on what we do best – logistics and foodservice – Bidfood has the unique opportunity to not only donate over 600,000 slices of cheese annually to Eat Up but to also provide the organisation with essential access to cool room storage in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Bidfood’s team members regularly volunteer in sandwich making sessions, preparing over 1,000 sandwiches per session. Through this partnership, Bidfood has been able to help Eat Up achieve the remarkable milestone of providing millions of free lunches to students across the country.
